Our Leap into the Next Energy Fairway

The Mannville Fairway:
The place to be for a nimble, high-growth producer

The Mannville in Eastern Alberta is a well defined medium and heavy oil resource with large scale original oil in place. Recent advancements in horizontal drilling techniques have created a resurgence in areas previously known for multiple oil-bearing horizons.

Why the Mannville Stack

Shallow Depths

Prospective Mannville Stack horizons occur at very shallow depths (300-900m TVD).  This results in lower drilling costs, and rapid "spud to onstream" times, resulting in quicker returns on capital

Highly Economic

The low capital costs coupled with high reservoir deliverability results in highly economic, low-risk drilling

Cost Effective

High porosity and permeability in these reservoirs allow the wells to flow without the need for stimulation such as hydraulic fracturing

Low Barrier to Entry

Relatively cheaper entry costs, compared to the Montney, Duvernay, and Clearwater plays

Westgate’s Killam Asset

Initial asset yielding positive returns and promising results; proving to be significant for Westgate

Asset Characteristics

  • Purchased Killam Sparky Mannville asset in Q2 2023

  • Reservoir properties support multi-lateral HZ drilling, eliminating the need for hydraulic fracturing

  • 28° API oil, which trades at a premium to WCS

  • First multi-lateral well drilled in Dec 2023

Killam acts as a starter kit to pursue additional Mannville Stack acquisitions in the fairway; the Westgate team will utilize results to optimize future wells.
